Documentation and Registration
To reduce the administration requirements for your procedure or surgery – you can register on LogBox – this will allow you to complete the documentation in your own time, and when your anesthetist is assigned they will have access to your information immediately.
If you require medical aid authorization we will provide you with the procedure codes for you to contact them.
In order to reduce contact all your forms will be sent to you electronically prior to being admitted to the medical facility to reduce contact.
Check with us if your treatment plan requires time off work or abstaining from exercise.
Procedure
If you are having any procedure done on your breasts – loose fitting pajamas and clothing are recommended after your procedure.
In the event that there are restrictions in place due to COVID or any other reason it is possible that visitation could be restricted while you are in the medical facility. If you are brining a minor for a procedure then a parent may accompany them provided they have a negative COVID test from the last 48 hours.
Dietary Requirements
Our comprehensive list of Dietary Requirements has been built over many years with much research into the healing process. All of the items affect the body’s ability to handle operations or procedures.
Pre-Operation: 2 weeks before your procedure
DO NOT CONSUME ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: Disprin / Aspirin / Compral / Anadin / Grandpa / Corenza C / Med-lemon / 3-in-1 flu packet / Corryx / Procydin / Spirulina / Arnica / Ginko / Omega 3/6/9 (including Margarines) / Green Tea
The ingredients in the products above stay in the body for up to 2 weeks after consumption – following this protocol improves your response to any procedure or surgery.
Pre-Operation: 2 days before your procedure
DO NOT CONSUME ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: Garlic / Ginger / Chilli / Red cayenne pepper / Alcohol
Post Operation
- Diet
- None of above (until at least three days after the drains have been removed)
- Remember that animal and plant based protein is important in your healing process and should be included in all meals – breakfast, lunch & dinner (Eggs, cheese, biltong, tuna, fish, meat, etc.)
- The following vegetables can be consumed: Pumpkin, carrots, peas, corn (mealies), potatoes, yellow apples, bananas and avocado’s.
- Stay away from the following:
- Rooibos Tea / Green Tea / Black Forest Tea / Herbal Tea’s
- Alcohol / Champagne/ not even small sips
- Sour Fruits / Vegetables / Fruit Juices – i.e.: oranges, naartjies, mangos, pineapples, strawberries, tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, sour beans.
- No paw-paw for 6 months after the operation – research has shown that paw paw contains 3 enzymes that break down collagen healing like scars.
- Not more than 5 glasses of water / coffee / tea – in total per day
- No fizzy drinks / no protein shakes
Healing
- The healing process is the final step in any procedure – unlike most practices we offer 6 months of follow up visits included in your procedure as well as expert on site dressing and wound care with our nursing sister. Like treatment plans, healing is a unique journey which will guide you through.
